The University of KwaZulu-Natal has 12 full tuition scholarships on offer. The scholarships cover tuition fees for the duration of a three or four year programme of study. They are available to top performers in a variety of sports and any student who is selected for national or provincial representation can apply. The closing date for applications is 31st of October. Application forms are available from the Sports Union offices.
Conditions
The payment of a sports scholarship is subject to the following conditions;

You must be an active member of the University Sports Union and, barring injury or illness, must be a regular player/competitor throughout the season; must attend all coaching sessions and competitions as requested by the Club Coaches and/or Sports Officers. Failure to participate in the above may result in cancellation of the scholarship.

If you terminate your studies during the year you will automatically lose your scholarship.

If you are unable to compete/play because of injury during organized sporting activities or illness you may receive the full amount of the scholarship for the year, subject to this being approved by the Scholarship’s Committee. Injured players are still expected to participate in Club activities.

You may not represent any club outside the University for any competitive sport unless you have been given written permission by Sports Administration.

The total amount will be paid in two equal installments i.e. end of March and August respectively.

This will be paid directly into your student fee account and can be withdrawn once your Student Fees have been paid in full.
